🔒 What is escrow?

Escrow is a secure payment structure where funds are held by an independent third party until agreed conditions are met. MyPetFriends uses escrow to ensure transparency and accountability for every booking.

How escrow works on MyPetFriends

On MyPetFriends, all payments are processed and held in escrow by TradeSafe.

When a pet owner pays for a booking:

  1. The funds are securely held in a regulated trust account with Standard Bank.
  2. The sitter completes the service.
  3. The pet owner confirms that the service is complete.
  4. The funds are then released to the sitter.

If the pet owner does not confirm completion, funds are automatically released 2 days after the service is marked complete.

Once released, payout typically reflects in the sitter’s account within 2–5 business days.

Why we use escrow

Escrow ensures that:

  • Pet owners know their funds are secure before a service begins.
  • Sitters know payment has been secured before providing care.
  • Payments are only released once the agreed service has been delivered.

It adds an important layer of transparency and accountability to every booking.
