Every sitter is reviewed before they appear
All pet sitters are manually reviewed before their profile goes live on MyPetFriends. We check that sitters meet our age requirements, that profiles and photos are appropriate, and that profiles are used for pet care – not advertising other businesses.
Sitters only become visible to pet owners once this review is complete.
Phone verification is required
Every sitter must verify their phone number using a one-time code. This is required before they can be contacted or booked, and it helps ensure smooth, reliable communication on the platform.
What does the “Verified” badge mean?
Some sitters choose to upload a copy of their ID. When they do, they’ll receive a “Verified” badge on their profile.
This means:
- Their name matches their ID
- They’re over 18
ID verification is optional at this stage. The “Verified” badge does not mean a background or criminal check.
Secure payments and added accountability
All sitters are required to link a bank account through our trusted third-party escrow provider, TradeSafe, in order to receive payment. This helps ensure payments are handled securely and adds an extra layer of accountability on the platform.
Honest, not over-promising
We don’t currently run background or criminal checks on sitters, and we’re upfront about that. Instead, we focus on transparency, clear profiles, reviews from other pet owners, secure payments, and giving you the freedom to choose a sitter you feel comfortable with.
